Hi there! Nice to meet you…
Thank you for your interest in Dance Sense. My name is Lindi Gilhar, and I am the owner and founder of Dance Sense, formerly known as Ballet Sense. I started ballet at the young age of four and danced in RAD (The Royal Academy of Dance) studios until the age of twenty-three. During this time, I completed extensive training, including Intermediate and Advanced levels, and participated in examinations as well as Eisteddfods. Dance has always been a true passion of mine. Through my personal experience as a dancer following the RAD syllabus, I experienced the grace, beauty, discipline, and passion that ballet brings. At the same time, I also recognised that strict training can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially for toddlers and young children.
At Dance Sense, I wanted to create a space that embraces the movement and foundations of ballet while also focusing on fun, imagination, confidence, creativity, and joyful learning. I believe young children need more time for creative expression, fantasy, movement, and play within their dance experience. When I decided to begin Dance Sense, I made a promise to myself to give children what they truly deserve – the opportunity to experience what they imagine a ballerina to be through dancing with joy, imagination, movement, confidence, learning, and, most importantly, fun. I am also an ECD teacher, which deepens my passion for teaching little ones even more. My goal is for every child to feel happy, supported, and confident while enjoying an amazing journey both physically and emotionally. I aim to build their confidence and provide them with strong foundations before entering a larger dance studio environment, should they wish to continue into a RAD studio later on. I have carefully designed a curriculum suited for two separate age groups:
• Group 1: 9 months-18 months (Adult assisted)
• Group 2: 2 – 4 years old
Classes include basic ballet-based movement and age-appropriate exercises that help strengthen little muscles while improving coordination and confidence. The music is carefully selected to complement our curriculum and theme-based lessons, creating a magical and engaging environment for little dancers using props. Dance Sense is about dance. It is not a ballet class but a mix of different types of movement and ballet fundamentals. I am incredibly excited to continue growing the Dance Sense family by introducing more forms of dance — all taught through age-appropriate lessons, strong foundations, and a genuine love for seeing little ones learn, grow, and thrive.
