Dance Sense – Terms and Conditions of Enrolment
These Terms and Conditions constitute a binding agreement between Dance Sense (“the Studio”, “we”, “us”) and the Parent/Guardian (“you”) enrolling a child in dance classes. By enrolling, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
1. Registration, Classes and Fees
1.1 Dance Sense offers one (1) class per week, each class being 30 (thirty) minutes in duration.
1.2 The standard fee is R600.00 (600 Hundred Rand) per child per month.
1.3 The host family receives a discounted rate of R400.00 (400 Hundred and Fifty Rand) per child per month in consideration for hosting the class venue.
1.4 The first class attended by a child is offered as a free trial class, with no obligation to continue thereafter.
1.5 A walk in once off fee is offered for R125.00 ( One hundred and twenty five)
This only applies to visitors for example on holiday. Not a permanent method to pay.
1.5 Monthly fees are payable in advance, no later than the 30th of each month, except for February, where payment is due by the 28th.
2. Late Payments
2.1 If payment has not been received in full by the 5th day of the month, a late payment fee of R50.00 (Fifty Rand)will be added to the outstanding amount.
2.2 If payment remains outstanding by the 7th day of the month, a total late payment fee of R100.00 (One Hundred Rand) will apply.
2.3 In accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, late payment fees are intended to be reasonable and compensatory, not punitive.
2.4 Dance Sense reserves the right to suspend class attendance until all outstanding amounts, including late fees, have been paid in full.
2.5 All late payment fees are non-refundable.
2.6 Dance Sense remains approachable and encourages open communication regarding genuine financial difficulties. Parents/Guardians are requested to engage with us proactively should challenges arise.
3. Holidays and Breaks
3.1 Dance Sense operates throughout the year, excluding public holidays and weekends.
3.2 There will be two (2) breaks during the year, one being paid and one unpaid. One week is deemed equivalent to one class.
3.3 Classes conclude for the year in December. All break dates will be communicated in advance.
4. Cancellations, Missed Classes and Refunds
4.1 If a child is absent due to illness, travel, or any personal reason, the teacher/owner must be notified. No refunds or fee reductions will apply for missed
classes.
4.2 If a class is cancelled or postponed by the teacher due to unforeseen circumstances, the class will be rescheduled where reasonably possible.
4.3 Where rescheduling is not feasible, a refund or credit may be issued at the discretion of Dance Sense.
4.4 If the host family is unavailable for any reason, the teacher/owner must be notified timeously so that alternative arrangements can be made.
4.5 Should a Parent/Guardian wish to terminate enrolment, one (1) calendar month’s written notice is required.
4.6 The same one (1) month notice period applies should a host family wish to terminate hosting arrangements.
5. Health, Safety and Venue Requirements
5.1 The host family shall provide a safe and suitable space for dance classes.
5.2 All toys and household items must be packed away or covered during class time.
5.3 No snacks are permitted during class. Water bottles only. Snacks may be consumed after class.
5.4 All animals or pets must be separated from the class area during lessons.
5.5 If a swimming pool is present on the premises, it must be covered or securely closed during class time.
5.6 Any damage caused to the host property during class remains the responsibility of the individual(s) involved, and not Dance Sense.
5.7 Any concerns or issues relating to the host venue must be reported to the teacher/owner as soon as reasonably possible.
6. Medical Consent and Limitation of Liability
6.1 The Parent/Guardian grants permission for the teacher to administer basic first aid in the event of minor injury.
6.2 Dance Sense, its teachers, owner, or representatives shall not be held liable for injury, illness, loss, or damage, except where required by law.
6.3 While all reasonable precautions are taken to ensure the safety and well-being of children, participation in dance activities is undertaken at the Parent/Guardian’s own risk, as permitted under the Consumer Protection Act.
6.4 Parents/Guardians acknowledge that they, or another responsible adult, are usually present during classes and remain responsible for their child’s supervision.
6.5 Dance Sense shall not be responsible for incidents occurring outside of scheduled class time.
7. Class Etiquette and Attire
7.1 Bags must be kept out of the class area.
7.2 Classes are informal. Children may attend barefoot and wear comfortable clothing such as leggings, tops, skirts, or ballet attire. Ballet uniforms are not
compulsory.
8. Photography, Video and POPIA Compliance
8.1 Parents/Guardians who take photographs or videos during class must ensure they have permission from all parents if other children appear in the content.
8.2 Dance Sense will only use images or videos in accordance with its signed media consent forms.
8.3 Parents/Guardians remain personally responsible for their own social media posts and compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
8.4 Dance Sense accepts no liability for unauthorised posting or sharing by parents.
9. General
9.1 These Terms and Conditions are subject to change, provided reasonable notice is given.
9.2 This agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
